Check out some of my websites to get a feel for my work. I try to ensure that each site is unique, reflecting the brand and personality of its owner. Primary user functions are always accessible from the main page, and all my sites are customized to look great on any device. Security for most sites is provided via Cleantalk, and SEO is provided via Yoast. I optimize and test site performance and ensure that your site is protected against brute force and other attacks. I finish things off with social media and Mailchimp connections to drive traffic to your site and optimize your investment. I prefer working in WordPress, as I feel it offers tons of design features and plugin options, but have also built sites in Shopify and Square. Note that many clients change and/or maintain their site themselves after the hand-off, so a few of my sites are no longer exactly as I built them.
The Camp 4 Coffee website is in warm, earthy tones, both reflecting the brand and bringing to mind cozy winter days and a warm cup of coffee. Its main focus is to make it super easy for customers to view and purchase coffee. It also highlights the quirky, fun-loving personality of the owner, Al Smith, by showing a video on the main page, highlighting his blog and showing the non-profits to which he contributes. This is a good example of an e-commerce site, using woo commerce and its associated Storefront theme. It also integrates with Avalara for state sales tax calculation and collection.
We’ve continued to grow this site, adding things like a Birthday Club, role-specific product views, and enhanced e-commerce options. Also, as we gather usage information, we can continually evolve the site to meet the needs of Al’s customers.
“Thank you for your efforts to rebuild our website. This has been a great process that has caused me to re-think how we interact with our online customers. Our sales are up considerably. Our customers are happier. We can make changes per customer suggestions. We can change the product offering easily. And our error/mistakes are down dramatically. This has been fun and functional. I look forward to what is next.” Al Smith-Camp4Coffee Founder
bhbcrestedbutte.com was ready for a website overhaul. We wanted to give the site a fresh new look, ensuring it is compelling to visitors. Better use of their beautiful building images highlighted company strengths, and easy-to-find contact buttons make this site ready for business! Behind the scenes, we added Yoast SEO to improve our visibility on the internet, security plug-ins to protect the web site from attacks, and a privacy page to let users know what information we retain and why. It was such a pleasure to do a site refresh for a friend and neighbor, learning more about them and their business!
“Hey, Carin I just wanted to reach out and praise you for our revamped website!! I truly could not be happier. Your design and text composition are phenomenal. So glad to be working with you!!” – Bryan Hawley, owner
The Suite of Thrive Yoga Colorado sites demonstrates a strong brand and layout consistency. The Thrive Yoga Colorado site gives overarching company information while incorporating information and links to all the studios. The Thrive Yoga Fruita and Crested Butte websites both host vibrant photos, upcoming events, and class schedules. These sites link to MindBody for class registrations and payments. The most frequently used options are shown both in menus and theme-based visuals on the home page. Easy to view on a desktop, tablet, or phone, these sites are visually compelling and easy to navigate for yogis.
To ensure these websites were low maintenance, we crafted carousels and sliders so that Canva poster images, which were made for marketing anyway, could be easily uploaded to the site. The use of the unique decal and logo images carries the studio branding to the online presence.
John’s Upholstery website was great fun! We integrated his love for Colorado and upholstery by integrating a beautifully restored settee into scenic Crested Butte settings for whimsical header photos. All of his meticulous work is displayed in photo carousels on each service page. The site is responsive and easy to use on either a phone or desktop, with email and click-to-call buttons always accessible. Testimonials are prominently shown on the main page and users can review his site. Blog posts are linked to his social accounts as well as an automated RSS Mailchimp campaign, maximizing the distribution and impact of his updates.
“Carin completely built a new website for our furniture restoration/drapery business. It was more comprehensive, creative and user friendly than I had imagined, navigation through the website is very simple yet shows all aspects in the highest of integrity. Carin worked very closely with me and listened to my input as well as initiating her expertise to develop a very creative website. I cannot say how pleased I am, we have only been live for a few days and I am already noticing results.” – John Griffin, owner
Kylee’s dive into the world of cupcakes started with a Facebook page. She immediately received orders and so I started developing a Sweet Home Sugar Co website. There is no way for this site not to be adorable, given the delectable mages of cupcakes, dog treats, and dogs! We used a free WordPress theme to minimize costs for this fledgling enterprise and integrated Woocommerce to enable Kylee to process orders in select zip codes for pickup or delivery. Integration with Facebook and Instagram enables Kylee to write posts and send them to all her accounts at once.
Theyoga-door.com is an updated site for Dina Ferrante to highlight her new virtual and on-demand class offerings. We utilized Vimeo for her class videos, keeping branding consistent, and providing her customers a great new option during social distancing. The header images are gorgeous, incorporating photos taken by Andi Tippie. A new corporate yoga section has been added to provide Dina a way to effectively target a new market. To enable clients to purchase punch cards and make retreat deposits, we incorporated WooCommerce. For marketing, we integrated with Mailchimp and Facebook, ensuring its easy for Dina to drive traffic to her site. Last but not least, we utilized an easy-to-update theme so that Dina can make updates as needed.
The Crested Buttes Personal Chefs website redo was initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic to enable Dana and her team to easily offer meals for pickup and delivery. We redid her site in Square, creating an integrated marketplace through which she could offer larder items and meals. Her site offers tons of gorgeous images, highlighting her unique dishes and love of local, organic ingredients. Integration with Facebook and Instagram enables Dana to more effectively market her meals and services. Mailchimp integration makes sending meal reminders and updates easy. I Have tried her meals – YUM!
The YoGo on the Go website is my own site, mainly focused on the yoga and meditation elements of my business. Users can either check out my yoga offerings or listen to my large library of yoga nidra meditations. While initially a subscription-based offering, all meditations are now free for anyone to listen to with a suggested donation of $25. Donations are via Paypal and the meditations are housed as private on YouTube. A handful of mediations are public on my YouTube channel to provide users a taste of my recordings.
The Expedition College website provides college-bound students and parents an overview of the services offered by John M Powell. Boasting prominent testimonials and college acceptance listings, the site positions John as a respectable and experienced counselor (which he is). The colors on the site and the use of a denim filter for general photos provide a consistent and professional look.
A password-protected client portal enables John to post information intended only for clients. Internal plug-ins enable him to create blog posts on the site, then push them to social media. The WordPress dashboard makes it easy to update content without a web developer. Round it all off with SEO and performance-tuning, and the site is ready to go!
“I am an independent educational consultant, and my business is generated entirely by referrals. When people want to learn more about me, it’s critical to have a compelling website to emphasize my skills, services, and credentials. My previous website was dated, so I asked Carin to design a new one for me. Carin was very easy to work with and was a good listener as I described my needs. She came up with a terrific design, worked with me to identify the best kind of content for each page, and created a dynamic website that I’m proud to direct people to. She made the process of designing the site very enjoyable, even teaching me how to add content and posts on my own. I highly recommend Carin to you!” – John Powell, owner
The Music in CB site boasting Karen Janssen’s musical offerings needed some general maintenance. While we were at it, we reduced the ongoing site costs with a free theme and more tightly integrated the site with Karen’s Facebook and Instagram pages. We moved mail lists into MailChimp and hooked up automatic emails for new blog postings as well as subscriber opt-in forms on the site. It was such fun learning more about what Karen does!
“Carin was such a pleasure to work with! She totally understood what it was I was hoping to do with my website, and (gently 🙂 guided me so that everything ended up more streamlined and cost-efficient. She is very knowledgable and an excellent communicator. I highly recommend her services!” – Karen Janssen. owner
